This Is What Happy Looks Like by Jennifer E. Smith
Goodreads Summary:
If fate sent you an email, would you answer?
When teenage movie star Graham Larkin accidentally sends small town girl Ellie O’Neill an email about his pet pig, the two seventeen-year-olds strike up a witty and unforgettable correspondence, discussing everything under the sun, except for their names or backgrounds.
Then Graham finds out that Ellie’s Maine hometown is the perfect location for his latest film, and he decides to take their relationship from online to in-person. But can a star as famous as Graham really start a relationship with an ordinary girl like Ellie? And why does Ellie want to avoid the media’s spotlight at all costs?
My Review:
This was a really cute book!! I LOVED the way they met through e-mail. So, so fun! It was a really great romance story. I liked how love won out in the end even though Ellie fought it so much due to other circumstances. They just couldn’t help but be with each other. Sigh… The ending of the book was great as well. It is open ended enough for you to make your own conclusions, but not so open ended that we are all left wondering what’s next. It was done really well.
There was a lot of family and friend drama in this book as well as the romance. I thought that some of it was unnecessary. While it did keep me interested, I thought some of it could be taken out to make the book a little bit shorter. It was cool to read about all of the character’s relationships with each other though.
I really enjoyed this book. I read it in a night, and am already looking forward to Jennifer’s next book. She writes sweet romance so well, and I love every minute of it. This is What Happy Looks Like was not as good as The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight (wow. Lots of long titles), but I still really enjoyed it.
