Undercover Bromance (Bromance Book Club #2) by Lyssa Kay Adams
Goodreads Summary:
Braden Mack thinks reading romance novels makes him an expert in love, but he’ll soon discover that real life is better than fiction.
Liv Papandreas has a dream job as a sous chef at Nashville’s hottest restaurant. Too bad the celebrity chef owner is less than charming behind kitchen doors. After she catches him harassing a young hostess, she confronts him and gets fired. Liv vows revenge, but she’ll need assistance to take on the powerful chef.
Unfortunately, that means turning to Braden Mack. When Liv’s blackballed from the restaurant scene, the charismatic nightclub entrepreneur offers to help expose her ex-boss, but she is suspicious of his motives. He’ll need to call in reinforcements: the Bromance Book Club.
Inspired by the romantic suspense novel they’re reading, the book club assists Liv in setting up a sting operation to take down the chef. But they’re just as eager to help Mack figure out the way to Liv’s heart… even though she’s determined to squelch the sparks between them before she gets burned.
My Review:
I loved the first book in this series so much, that I was afraid this one wouldn’t live up to it, but it did! It wasn’t quite as good, but I still loved it so much! The only thing that I felt was missing from this book was more of the book club aspect. In the first book, the book club is a huge part of the story and we even get to read snippets of the book that the guys are reading along with them. In this second book, we only ever got one snippet from the book that they were reading, and not as much talk about the book club. All of the guys from the book club were involved throughout the storyline though, so I appreciated getting to read about them again in this one.
I enjoyed how strong Liv was, but also how she and Mack both had to be vulnerable and accept their flaws in order to move on, apologize and forgive. I loved how protective Mack was of Liv, but also let her be her own person and let her call the shots on how to take down Royce.
4.5 stars
I received this book for free in return for an honest review.
