Prince Puggly of Spud and the Kingdom of Spiff by Robert Paul Weston
Goodreads Summary:
Weston is back in rhyming style with a book about princes and princesses, kings and kingdoms, and what it means to look good in polka-dot bell-bottoms.
Prince Puggly of the muddy, supremely unfashionable Kingdom of Spud is surprised when he receives an invitation to a lavish ball in the far trendier Kingdom of Spiff. The poorly-dressed prince is sure that the Spiffs will take one look at him and laugh him out of their kingdom…
And that’s exactly what they do! But then Puggly meets Francesca, the bookish Princess of Spiff, and together the two set out to teach Francesca’s Spiffian countrymen an absurd lesson in style.
My Review:
This was such a cute book!! It is written like one big poem. EVERYTHING rhymed!! That made it really fun, and really easy to read. I read the whole thing in less than an hour. There are lots of fun designs on the pages that either describe the words or add effects to the story. It was all so cute and really well done.
The plot of the story was kind of weird. It was just kind of random, but it was a cute story and I think kids would really enjoy it. There were several funny parts that I enjoyed, as well as a moral to the story at the end. As a teacher, I would definitely use this book with my class when teaching poetry or rhymes. They would love it!
