Complicating things a bit is Jon, the youngest son of the royal family, who meets Kate, and is smitten, but isn’t quite ready yet to reveal his true identity. After all, it’s his older brother Rupert who’s supposed to marry Rellie, which means pretending to be a lowly civil servant will give him the chance to spend more time with Kate. (As long as he can get the ball arranged, and stop Rupert from getting himself into trouble over his “self-actualization” business, he should have the perfect opportunity to explain everything and get started on making a little magic with the Fairy Godmother of his dreams.)
But, of course, things never ever happen as planned.
My Review:
This was a really cute book! It was a different take on Cinderella, but the emphasis was on the fairy godmother. I had so much fun reading this book. It was really interesting to see how the author incorporated everything from the original Cinderella. Some of it was really far-fetched, but if you can get past that it was cute.
I liked that the focus was on Kate, the Fairy Godmother, but that we got to see a lot of “Rellie” as well. They were almost equally important. There were quite a few characters, and they all played an equally important part. I didn’t feel like any of the characters were just side characters. They were all important.
I loved the romance aspect. Although it got a little mixed up at times, that kept the book interesting. The love between Jon and Kate was so sweet, and strong. They fell for each other really hard and fast, but it was sweet to watch. Then you through Rellie in the mix and things got a little complicated. The whole storyline was about getting Rellie to fall in love with someone. That someone changed a few times throughout the book, but she ended up with the right person in the end. I wouldn’t call it a love triangle/square, because it really wasn’t one. Everyone knew who they wanted, there were just surrounding circumstances that made that a little difficult at times.
Overall, this was a really cute book that I would recommend.
