OCD Love Story by Corey Ann Haydu
Goodreads Summary:
In this raw and relatable romance, Bea learns that some things just can’t be controlled.
When Bea meets Beck, she knows instantly that he’s her kind of crazy. Sweet, strong, kinda-messed-up Beck understands her like no one else can. He makes her feel almost normal. He makes her feel like she could fall in love again.
But despite her feelings for Beck, Bea can’t stop thinking about someone else: a guy who is gorgeous and magnetic… and has no idea Bea even exists. But Bea knows a lot about him. She spends a lot of time watching him. She has a journal full of notes. Some might even say she’s obsessed.
Bea tells herself she’s got it all under control. But this isn’t a choice, it’s a compulsion. The truth is, she’s breaking down…and she might end up breaking her own heart.
My Review:
This was a really good book. It was sweet, and romantic, and painful. There were so many different emotions happening throughout the book. It was a really touching story about characters who struggle with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
Parts of this book were really hard to read. While it is NO WHERE NEAR as bad as the characters in this book, I struggle from OCD as well. For the most part, it doesn’t really affect me. There are days when it will flare up though, and I will be annoyed by everything that isn’t perfect. Sometimes I have a hard time playing certain cards games because all of the stacks of cards aren’t nice and neat. So, like I said, my OCD is extremely mild. However, it did make certain things in the book difficult. I can’t imagine having OCD as bad as these characters did. My heart really broke for all of them, but particularly Bea.
I constantly wanted to just make them stop doing what they were doing wrong. Sometimes it just got flat out annoying. Overall though, this book really touched me. I loved the progression of the story as well.
