An age gap, roommates-to-lovers small town romance from USA Today bestselling author Catherine Cowles…

Fractured Sky, an emotional and swoony contemporary romance from USA Today bestselling author Catherine Cowles, is now available!

Damaged. Broken. Destroyed. I’ve heard it all. A single moment of trusting the wrong person shattered my life into pieces, and my family has never looked at me the same. It’s impossible to convince them that I’m anything more than the broken girl they rescued all those years ago.

Until I meet him.

Ramsey’s surly demeanor and menacing scowl scare most of the world away. But not me. Not when I’ve seen his gentle hands soothe an abused colt or comfort a terrified mare.

And when I finally get up the courage to strike out on my own, Ramsey’s there. Roommates felt like such a safe proposition until Ramsey’s lingering touches and wicked smile light a fire in me I don’t think will ever be extinguished. And he feels it, too…

But just as my new life begins to take root, an evil from my past emerges from the shadows, casting a darkness on my newfound freedom. And this time, they won’t settle for pieces of me. They want everything…

REVIEW
This is book 5 in the Tattered and Torn series, and one I have been waiting for since we met Shiloh in book 1. Like we learn in book 1, this book starts out with Shiloh’s kidnapping when she was ten years old. She has a lot of trauma from this, and holds people at a distance. Her family has a lot of guilt and worry from her kidnapping and she feels like they are suffocating her.

“I’d never be free. Not completely. I was destined to live in the chains my family had woven around me in a quest to keep me safe.”

“They love me-my family. I know they do. But they’re also suffocating me. I can’t breathe. Can’t move. Can’t do anything without hurting them.”

Shiloh often escapes on her horse to Ramsey’s property to watch him working with horses. She feels safe with him, and once they start talking, confides in him how she feels and he suggests that she needs to move out from under her family’s roof and watchfulness. Ramsey is very much a loner hero and has walls built up around his heart (and his property). He doesn’t let anyone on his property, so it is a big deal when he offers her his guest cabin to rent.

Shiloh and Ramsey both have things in their past that they don’t share with others. I loved watching this slow burn unfold and how they trusted each other. Watching Shiloh trust Ramsey and be okay with him touching her when she usually can’t stand any kind of touch was so sweet. This was definitely an emotional read from Catherine Cowles, and it was beautifully done!
